The masajid is nice, but I can not say the same for the dugsi.

The learning style is redundant and not helpful at all. The students are required to memorize pages arabic, even though most of the students do not speak the language. If the students do not memorize they are kept in the school and are not allowed to leave.

However, the students who complete the useless task are also treated unfairly. If you finish your "memorizing" you are expected to sit still and not talk to anyone for nearly 3 hours. This doesn't seem to bad does it?

Which means the only kids who learn anything are the ones who know arabic. In other words none of the dam kids learn anything. This not only waste there time but also there money. I dont think the teachings of Islam let you waste your money every month when your parents are there which can help you.

But what do you expect from people who's only information of Islamic laws is memorizing the Qur'an without translation? It is how they were raised back in Africa.

There are also more signs that these people do not follow Islam correctly.

According to them, afro's are such a bad thing that they need to be banned. I tell them that it is halal or permissible in Islam to grow my hair, but they do not listen.

Who are they to attempt to change God's rules!?

My hair is very curly so it grows upward, it is actually very short. If my hair were straight it would not come close to touching my eyebrows. But because of my hair it looks like a mini afro.

Prophet Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him) had long hair almost reaching is shoulders. [Bukhari Vol.2 pg.876]

When I tell this to some of the instructors all they say is, "That is a good point" but never acknowledge it and continue to tell me to cut my hair.
